HANDBAG TRENDS

THE TOTE BAG

Unfortunately, we can’t all be Mary Poppins and fit everything including the coat rack into our handbags, but the latest oversized tote bag trend has helped. No longer just used to carry groceries, supersized carry-alls now are the classy must-have for all occasions. High-end labels such as the Hermes Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs and Chanel started the trend, which has been picked up by celebrities such as Jessica Simpson, Victoria Beckham and Mischa Barton. The Bagmate® hooks are strong enough to hold handbags of any size and weight.

WHAT HANDBAG PERSONALITY ARE YOU?

Author and handbag analyst Kathryn Eisman believes handbags and their contents say a lot about our personality. She has grouped women into four main handbag personalities:

1. Expressive – Caring, sensitive and down-to-earth these women have bags full of items useful to others including perfume, gum, bandaids and hair clips. These daydreamers also tend to carry sentimental photos, books or magazines.

2. Creative – This free spirited woman have handbags that are chaotic and is like a bottomless pit. This may include unpaid bills, food wrappers and change. Creative women are constantly evolving and like to have their bag matching their mood and outfit. These women tend to have brightly coloured handbags such as hot pink or aqua.

3. Prepared – The reliable and attention-to-detail women will have an organised, purposeful bag. They maintain structure by rarely swapping handbags but will always pack sensible items such as hair ties, tissues, hand wipes and even a toothbrush. These women choose neutral coloured, classic cut bags that will never go out of style.

4.  Minimal – These women hate clutter and will have a neat, small, classy handbag. Only carrying the necessities, such as wallet, sunglasses and electronic organiser, everything in their bag is part of an organised system. Minimal women will carry a sophisticated, compact handbag that fits neatly under the shoulder.
